So - Sophronia! This one is a fascinating one - not least because of the detail Calvino includes wherein it is the sensible, stone half of the city that gets moved around - and not the fairground bit! Sometimes students don't really think about this because they are instantly attracted to the bright lights and fun structures of the amusement park. I'm just going to link you back to Louis OGR: Louis has also chosen Sophronia and I gave him similar advice and some visual references too. Have a read and see what you think:
Short version is a) think about the idea of the 'portable stone city' a bit more, because I think this is where some really interesting stuff can happen in terms of 'imagineering' Sophronia - and b) think about how the fun fair element might be more than just 'rides' - and how the architecture of the funfair half might express itself differently:

I like very much your idea of the rollercoaster being the 'transport system' for Sophronia - but I want you to really push that logic: so think about massive train stations in big cities - HUGE and complex and super-busy - so if rollercoasters were to be the equivalent of railways and motorways, what would the stations look like, and what would the city look like if it has to accommodate all those tracks?
One architect you might want to look at in terms of seeing how the wavy lines of the rollercoaster track might be combined into your city's architecture is Calatrava:

In terms of thinking about your 'interior' - identify a special or meaningful building with a meaningful role that relates to the heart of Sophronia; for example, if the people of Sophronia worship fun and play, then what would their churches, cathedrals or temples look like? If Sophronia's police are clowns (making sure everyone is having fun!) what does the police station look like.... and so on. It's by thinking about these cities as being made up of people and functions and roles and jobs etc you'll find your inspiration accordingly!
